   Proposal Description:
   As researchers push toward identifying the earliest detectable cognitive changes that portent later onset of dementia, it is important to determine what constitutes a reliable indicator of change over time.  There are several methods for calculating reliable change indices, however few have compared and contrasted these methods with other means for identifying cognitive change.  In this analysis we propose to 1) calculate norms for reliable change in this large population-based sample, 2) compare this indicator of change to  conventional methods such as 1.5 standard deviations below the mean, and 3) evaluate these two indicators within the context of the new diagnostic criteria for MCI due to AD.
